PRADHAN ADITYA

プラダン・アディテア(1997年ネパール生まれ)は、京都を拠点に活動する仏教美術作家です。2016 年に建築を学ぶために来日し、2021年からチベット仏教を中心とした仏教美術の制作に取り組み始 めました。彼の作品は、視る者に「暗闇の中に存在する光」を伝えることを目的としており、曼陀羅をは じめとするオーダーメイドの作品が特徴です。

Pradhan Aditya, born in Nepal in 1997, is a Buddhist art creator based in Kyoto. He came to Japan in 2016 to study architecture and began focusing on creating Buddhist art, mainly centered around Tibetan Buddhism, in 2021. His work aims to convey "the light that exists within darkness" to viewers, and is characterized by custom-made pieces, including mandalas.

アディテアの曼陀羅制作は、依頼主の人間性やフィロソフィーに深く傾聴し、伝統的な模様や幾何学 を用いて唯一無二の作品を創り出します。純金を使用した緻密で精緻な作品は、多くの人々に感動を 与え、輝かしい美しさと精神的な深みを兼ね備えています。

彼のアーティスト活動は、多方面で社会に貢献しています。彼の作品は、視る者に深い精神的な体験 を提供し、瞑想や内省の機会を与えることで、心の平静や自己探求を促進します。また、チベット仏教 を中心とした仏教美術の制作を通じて、貴重な文化遺産を保存し、次世代に伝える重要な役割を果 たしています。さらに、純金を使用した彼の緻密な作品は、精神的な深みと人々の生活に影響を与える ものであることを示し、美術の価値を再認識させる存在となっています。

Aditya's mandala creation process involves deeply listening to the client's personality and philosophy, using traditional patterns and geometric shapes to produce one-of-a-kind pieces. His meticulously detailed works, made with pure gold, evoke a sense of awe in many, combining radiant beauty with profound spiritual depth.

His artistic endeavors contribute significantly to society in various ways. His works offer viewers deep spiritual experiences, providing opportunities for meditation and introspection, promoting inner peace, and encouraging self-discovery. Through the creation of Buddhist art, primarily focused on Tibetan Buddhism, Aditya plays a vital role in preserving and passing on invaluable cultural heritage to future generations. His intricate gold-leafed pieces not only exhibit spiritual depth but also influence people’s lives, reaffirming the significance of art.

Statement

自分が深く落ち込んでいた時期に、心の癒しを求めて曼荼羅の制作を始めました。この制作活動は、 私にとってただのアートではなく、自分自身と向き合うための重要なプロセスとなりました。私は「暗闇 の中にこそ光が存在する」と信じており、その信念を表現するために、曼荼羅を描くことを通じて自分 の内面を探求しました。

現実の中には常に二面性が存在します。光と闇、喜びと悲しみ、善と悪など、対立する要素が私たちの 世界を形作っています。この二面性を表現するために、私は曼荼羅を二色で制作することを選びまし た。これは、私たちが意識を深めることで、人生の本質をより深く理解し、開花させることができるとい うメッセージを込めています。

「あなたが無意識を意識しない限り、それはあなたの人生を支配し、あなたはそれを運命と呼ぶ」とい う言葉があります。私たちは往々にして、外の世界ばかりを見つめ、内なる自分に目を向けることを怠り がちです。しかし、暗闇に向き合い、その中に光を見出すことができたとき初めて本当に自分を知ること ができるのです。曼荼羅を描くことは、私にとってこのプロセスを視覚的に表現し、他者にもその重要 性を伝える手段となっています。

私たちにとっての最大の課題は、個々の存在がどれほど重要であるかを理解することです。それぞれの 存在が、世界にとってかけがえのないものであり、その意識が私たちの未来を形作る鍵となると信じて います。私は、曼荼羅を通じて、このメッセージを多くの人に届けたいと願っています。

During a period of deep depression, I began creating mandalas in search of healing for my soul. This creative process became more than just art for me—it became a vital way to confront myself. I believe that "light exists within darkness," and to express that belief, I delved into my inner self through the creation of mandalas.

There is always duality in reality. Light and darkness, joy and sorrow, good and evil—these opposing forces shape our world. To represent this duality, I chose to create mandalas using only two colors. This symbolizes the idea that by deepening our awareness, we can understand and unlock the true essence of life.

There is a saying: "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate." We often tend to focus solely on the external world and neglect to look within ourselves. However, only when we face the darkness and discover the light within it can we truly come to know ourselves. For me, drawing mandalas is a way to visually express this process and communicate its importance to others.

One of our greatest challenges is to recognize how significant each individual is. Every person's existence is invaluable to the world, and I believe that this awareness is key to shaping our future. Through my mandalas, I hope to convey this message to as many people as possible.

自分自身を、キャンバスに仏教的なアイデアを重ねる現代の哲学者だと考えています。私の作品は、私たちに考えるきっかけを与え、生きる幻想に立ち向かいより大きな真実を追求することを促すものであってほしいと思っています。

I think of myself as a modern-day philosopher who layers Buddhist ideas onto a canvas. I want my work to provide an opportunity for us to think, confront the illusions we live in, and encourage the pursuit of a greater truth.
